Nakabisita CEBU: my September 2013 Cebu Trip
Before I resign as Career Adviser/ Marketing Head of STI College Iloilo, I am fortunate that my boss, Ms Mafebel Catedrila, included me in the rooster of delegates for the Cluster Competition of STI College Iloilo who will represent the college in the Clister Competion in Cebu last September 3-6, 2013.
Before I go into the details of my Cebu Trip, allow me to introduce you to STI. STI Education Services Group is a network of schools in the Philippines that offer in demmand courses in Information Technology, Engineering, Business and Management, Tourism and Hospitality, Health Care, and Arts and Sciences.
Founded in August, 1982, it has grown into 87 strong campuses nationwide. Today, STI celebrates its foundation with a series of activities geared towards the realization its vision of nurturing individuals to become competent and respensible members of the society.
Last September, STI Campuses in the Visayas area held a cluster competition- Talent Search. STIers from Iloilo, Cebu, Bacolod, Fumaguete, Tacloban, Ormor, Maasin, and Kalibo among others, gathered together in a showcase of talent showdown in events like Battle of the Bands, Hataw Sayaw, Siinging Idol and the search for Mr and Ms STI. Winners of the cluster competition will compete in the National Finals this coming September 27 at Enchanted Kingdom.
Although our team was not able to bring home the bacon, it was such a learning experience for us to compete with other STI schools in the Visayas.
After the competition, since we have more than enough time to spend, Ms Jen and Sir Andren, my fellow co faculty, decided to treat the students to a one day Cebu Fam tour. The 17 of us went to Basilica de Santo Nino de Cebu, The Magellan's Cross, Ayala Center Cebu, SM City Cebu, and Taoist Temple.
