SARABIA Manor Hotel and Convention Center's management team and officers, together with the members of the Sarabia clan led a gift-giving at the Iloilo Rehabilitation Center (IRC) last July 6 in commemoration of the late Dr. Salvador G. Sarabia, Sr. the hotel's founder.
Now, close to 785 inmates will enjoy the sports equipment like chessboards and basketball, other stuffs like T-shirts, bath towels, bath mats, pillowcases and assorted breads that were given to them.
"This gift-giving is done annually to pay tribute to the late Salvador Sarabia. He wants to leave a legacy and tradition of helping the less fortunate, because he believed nobody should be in prison," Roberto Laygo, hotel manager said.
The gift-giving team was composed of Laygo; Rex Velarde, Jr., finance manager; Lloyd Celis, communications supervisor; Noel Divinagracia, chief security and Tourism Undersecretary Salvador Sarabia, Jr.
Meanwhile, IRC Assistant Jail Warden Jimmy Almendros said, "I'm thankful for this stuff. It's a great help for our inmates to focus on sports instead of other things. Daku gid akon kalipay kay may mga NGO nga parehos sine."
At 6 p.m., a mass and a dinner were held at the Boracay Ballroom of Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center where family members, hotel management and staff, representatives from various corporate accounts attended.
