Operation SMILE

In physiology, a smile is a facial expression formed by flexing the muscles most notably near both ends of the mouth. The smile can also be found around the eyes . Among humans, it is customarily an expression denoting pleasure, happiness, or amusement, but can also be an involuntary expression of anxiety, in which case it can be known as a grimace. There is much evidence that smiling is a normal reaction to certain stimuli as it occurs regardless of culture. Happiness is most often the motivating cause of a smile. Among animals, the exposure of teeth, which may bear a resemblance to a smile, is often used as a threat or warning display - known as a snarl - or a sign of submission. In chimpanzees, it can also be a sign of fear. (Freitas-Magalhaes, 2006).

Above are photos I personally selected from my image data bank to illustrate what smiling is about. The idea of posting this blog started when i gave a comment to kevin's default YM photo. Then, I ask him to give me options of his pictures were he sports that all out natural smile. I was surprise to receive an old memento from him! It was our picture taken when we had our "last" dinner together at Bourbon street, (thanks to Jigs Latoza for the treat). Surprised, I ask him, "why that picture?" he simply replied, "ang mga smiles n mkita mu are smiles na di pilit or pacute' haha' those were the smiles of happiness... in other words,, its all natural" a simple gesture which i shall forever keep and treasure. Much love Kevin!!!
